Installing from the Marketplace

The Marketplace holds components curated for Coldsea Deploy. Installing one copies it into your Task Library, where it can be used in workflows like anything else you built yourself.

Before you start

You need a role that can add components, which means User, Admin, or Owner. Viewers can browse the Marketplace and read component details, but the install control does nothing for them.

Your organization also needs an active subscription. Marketplace does not appear in the sidebar without one.

The Marketplace is marked Beta.

Find a component

Select Marketplace in the sidebar. Four controls narrow the catalog:

  • A search box across names and descriptions.
  • All Categories, to narrow by what a component is for.
  • All Publishers, to narrow by who made it.
  • A type filter of All Types, Templates, or Task Groups.

Selecting a component opens its page. Alongside the description you get Requirements, What's Included, its Parameters, its license and tags, when it was published and last updated, and its Version History.

Two badges are worth knowing. A verified mark next to the publisher means the publisher has been checked. Featured means it has been promoted, not that it is more capable than anything else.

Install it

  1. 1

    Choose a version

The install sidebar has a Version selector, defaulting to the newest. Pick a different one if you have a reason to.

  2. 2

    Start the install

Select the install button, which names the version you picked. A dialog confirms the component, the version, and the publisher before anything happens.

  3. 3

    Confirm

Confirm, and the dialog reports progress and then success.

The component is now in your Task Library, on the tab matching its type.

What installing actually does

It takes a copy. The component is snapshotted into your organization's library at the version you chose, and pinned there.

This has two consequences worth knowing up front.

Nothing changes under you. A publisher releasing a new version does not alter what you installed. You keep the version you chose until you decide otherwise.

Installed components are read-only. Their menu offers View (Read-Only) rather than Edit. See Customizing one if you need to change something.

Keeping up to date

When a newer version of something you installed becomes available, it is flagged in the Task Library: the item is badged with the newer version number, and its menu carries an Update Available entry that takes you to the Marketplace to install it.

Updating is deliberate. Nothing is upgraded on your behalf.

Workflows you already published are unaffected either way. A published workflow carries its own snapshot of the components it uses, so updating a library component changes what future publishes pick up, not what your devices are running now.

Customizing one

Because installed components are read-only, changing one means taking a copy. The menu offers Clone to Customize, which gives you an editable custom component and leaves the installed original alone.

The clone is yours. It will not be flagged for updates, since it is no longer the publisher's component.

Removing one

Delete it from the Task Library like any other component. Installed components cannot be edited or deactivated; clone one first if you want a copy you control.

A component that a workflow or task group uses cannot be deleted. The message names them; remove the component from those first.
