Key terms

The same words appear throughout the app and these docs. This page says what each one means here.

Your organization and its work

Organization. The account your team works in. It owns your workflows, components, hosts, and deployment history. You can belong to more than one; switch between them from the organization menu at the top of the page.

Workflow. An ordered set of steps that sets up a Windows machine. You build it in the web app and publish it when it is ready. See Versions and publishing.

Component. A reusable step or group of steps in the Task Library that workflows are built from.

Publish. Making a workflow available to your organization's desktop agents. A draft is visible only in the editor.

Machines and the desktop agent

Desktop agent. The Coldsea Deploy software that runs on each Windows machine. It fetches your published workflows, runs them step by step, and reports back to the web app. These docs also call it the agent. See How Coldsea Deploy works.

Host. A Windows machine with the desktop agent, associated with your organization.

Deployment. One run of a workflow on a host, as the agent reports it. See Deployment states.

Partners and clients

Partner. An organization in the Partner Program that manages other organizations on their behalf. See Partner Program.

Client. An organization a partner manages, also called a client organization. Partners see their clients on the Managed Organizations page and in the organization menu. In Coldsea Deploy, "client" always means an organization, never the software on a machine. See Managing client organizations.

Client Pushes. Copies of workflows and components a partner sends to its clients. See Pushing workflows and components to clients.

Client Admin. A role a partner can give a client's own staff. It runs the client's team, single sign-on, secrets, and workloads, without access to billing or deleting the organization, and can end the partnership. See Roles and permissions.

Single sign-on settings use Client ID and Client secret. Those are your identity provider's terms for the connection, not a Coldsea Deploy client. See Single sign-on.
