Your partner
If a partner manages your organization, the Partner tab in your organization settings shows who they are and how to reach them. It is also where you end the partnership when you want your organization to stand on its own.
Who can see the Partner tab
Open Settings, then This Organization, then the Partner tab. The tab appears while a partner manages your organization, for members whose role includes permission to manage the partnership. Client Admins have it, and a custom role can include it. People from the partner who work inside your organization never have it.
If nobody in your organization can see the tab, ask your partner to make you a Client Admin. Your partner sees a note on your organization when nobody there can manage the partnership.
What the tab shows
- The partner's name, and Managing your organization since the date they started.
- Access, what the partner can do in your organization right now:
- Full access
- Read-only while your partner's account is suspended
- No access, when your organization has no active subscription through your partner
- Contact followed by the partner's name, with their support email and a Support site link, when the partner has set them.
- A reminder that people at the partner who manage client organizations can open and work in your organization.
- View Partner Activity, which opens the history of what the partner did in your organization. It shows only if your role can review Partner Activity. See Roles and permissions.
The tab does not list the partner's staff. The people who acted in your organization appear by name in Partner Activity.
Contacting your partner
The partner's support email and website, if they set them, are on the Partner tab.
The Team and Billing pages also name your partner. On Team, the notice reads Team membership is managed by your partner, followed by Contact your partner to add or remove members. On Billing, it says your subscription is managed and paid for by your partner, and to contact them with billing questions. If you can manage the partnership, these notices also show the partner's contact and a View your partnership link to the Partner tab.
Ending the partnership
To end the partnership, you choose a plan and pay for it yourself. The partnership ends when that checkout completes, so your organization is never without a plan, and your workflows, hosts, and data stay as they are. Your partner cannot delay or block it: once you start, they cannot remove you or change your role until your checkout completes or the hour-long checkout expires.
- 1
Open the Partner tab
Select Settings, then This Organization, then Partner.
- 2
Start ending the partnership
Select End partnership with followed by your partner's name.
- 3
Choose a plan
Pick a plan under Plan. Each plan lists its main limits. Then choose one of its prices under Billing; the yearly price is selected when the plan has one, and a price billed less often than monthly shows what it comes to per month and its saving.
- 4
Go to checkout
Select Continue to checkout and complete the payment.
Your partner is notified as soon as you select Continue to checkout, with an in-app notification and an email that you have started ending the partnership. If the plan you picked is rejected, for example because your current usage is over the plan's limits, the dialog shows the reason and your partner is not notified. Choose a larger plan and try again. If the plan is accepted but payment setup then fails, your partner may already have been notified. Try again; nothing changes until checkout completes.
While your checkout is open
Checkout stays open for an hour. Until it completes or expires, the exit is in progress:
- Nobody can remove you from your organization or change your role, neither your partner nor anyone in your organization. They see This member is ending the partnership. You can change their access after the exit completes or expires.
- Nobody else in your organization can start ending the partnership. If they try, the dialog shows An exit is already in progress.
- If you start again yourself, for example with a different plan, your earlier checkout is closed and your partner is not notified a second time.
If checkout expires without payment, the exit is no longer in progress and anyone who can manage the partnership can start again.
When checkout completes
You return to the Partner tab, which shows Checkout complete. Your organization is becoming independent; this can take a moment. When the change is done, it reads Your organization is now independent and pays for its own plan.
If it instead reads Your organization is now independent. Sign out and back in to see your new permissions., sign out and back in to pick up your new role. If the change takes more than two minutes, the tab stops checking and reads This is taking longer than expected. If your organization still shows as managed in a few minutes, contact support.
From then on:
- Your partner no longer manages or bills your organization, and loses access to it. They can no longer open it or push workflows and components to it.
- Your organization pays for the plan you chose. Manage it on the Billing page like any other subscription.
- You become the Owner of the organization.
- Everyone else keeps their role. Client Admins keep working as before, but the Client Admin role is no longer offered when you invite or re-role members.
- Your Partner Activity history stays, for those who can review it. The Partner tab goes away.
- Workflows and components your partner pushed stay yours. See Updates from your partner.
- Your partner receives a second notice that the partnership has ended.
If the person who started checkout is no longer a member of your organization when it completes, the partnership still ends, but nobody becomes the Owner. Contact support to have one assigned.
If you cancel checkout
If you leave checkout without paying, you return to the Partner tab with Checkout cancelled. Nothing changed. Your checkout is closed and the exit is no longer in progress, so your membership can be changed again as usual. Your partner keeps managing your organization. They were already told you started, so you may want to let them know. You can start again at any time.
If your organization has no active subscription
Your partner can turn off your organization's subscription. From then on your organization has no active subscription: its people can still sign in, but the features of its plan are unavailable until your partner turns it back on or you subscribe yourself. The Partner tab shows No access, and End partnership with your partner is still there. It is how your organization starts paying for its own plan. Your partner is still notified when you start, so they can choose to turn your subscription back on first.
While your organization has no active subscription, opening the app shows a Limited access page instead of your workspace. If you can manage the partnership, that page offers Subscribe on your own. Select Choose a plan to open the same dialog as End partnership with on the Partner tab, then pick a plan and continue to checkout as described in Ending the partnership. When checkout completes or is cancelled, you return to the Partner tab. Because your partner owns the subscription, the page offers no way to reactivate it, even to members who manage billing. Members who cannot manage the partnership see a note that your partner manages the subscription, and to contact the administrator who manages the partnership.
If your partner leaves the Partner Program, your organization keeps its plan until the end of its current period, and then the same applies.
